A gas leak at a pharmaceutical company in Lianyungang led to the poisoning of eight people with hydrogen chloride.
At about 11:40 a.m. on 17 January, a production workshop of Lianyungang Jinkang Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Co., Ltd. carried out debugging of the production process, and due to improper operation of the workers, the reaction kettle was heated up too fast, resulting in the spillage of hydrogen chloride gas, which spread with the wind to the village of Hou Xu Fu.
